THis is my "masterpiece" from my senior year in high school. It went to state at the VASE competition--I was happy! but I hate the fact that my photo of it is soooo crappy. It does no justice to how it looks in real life.
This image was inspired by Beethoven's 5th symphony (the first movement), which is weird because I don't even like beethoven. but this is what I saw when i listened to it. I think she's like...trying to save him from her ferocious bird family... my friend Stefan was my model for the guy, and sadly enough, I had to vaguely use myself as the model for the harpy, but it's ok i guess, because now only the hair looks like me. woohoo I am well pleased with the giant raven-like birds, and the harpy's face and hair. Her body looked cool in the sketch but when I painted it, she kinda died. The guyhas all kinds of problems, especially with his skin tone--I HATE painting skin tones, because it's soooo hard. maybe i'll learn someday. but until then, here's my masterpiece from last year. yo acrylic on matteboard 17 x 21 i believe, if i remember right. |
